Throughout eight years at Echoing Green, I introduced many internal-facing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives. I proposed and lead the first LGBTQ+ affinity-group meetup for Fellows and staff; I selected and designed quotes from Black, women, and gay activists that were installed throughout the office; and I worked for trans-inclusive language in the organization’s policies.  I was also tapped often to translate org-wide strategies and big ideas into actionable language and presentations. The following are just a few examples.
“Kit is the steady voice in the room. They are thoughtful and considered while still action-oriented and decisive. Kit’s role at Echoing Green goes beyond Creative Director, and the entire Executive Team is thankful to have them on staff.”

‘I Belong Here’ Visibility Stickers
Part icebreaker, part tool for active inclusion, I first created these conference name badge stickers for the registration tables at the 2017 Echoing Green All Fellows Conference. Their popularity and success at generating conversations led me to add to the collection and reprint them for each subsequent organizational event or gathering. I have also made the digital artwork available free online for other conferences to adapt and use, and will soon have versions available for purchase in my shop.
I received the Be Bold Award, presented to staff members from staff members, for this project.
Video narratives included those of a Nigerian author, a disabled Palestinian-American comedian, an Irish drag performer, and a Japanese-American actor, among others.

Staff Conversations
In 2018, I proposed and hosted a monthly after-work employee meetup designed to expose us to new perspectives and generate conversations in a provocative, yet friendly, environment. Each month for a year, we gathered in an auditorium to watch a TED-style video centered around the speaker’s identity or personal experiences, before we each shared a question that the video raised for us, and then engaged in open dialog.
I received the Be Bold Award, presented to staff members from staff members, for this project.
Organization Core Values
I volunteered to co-lead staff roundtable discussions about Echoing Green’s internal core values, and then drafted the language for the seven values later voted on by the full staff and ratified by the executive team. I concluded by designing posters for each Core Value that were installed throughout the office workspace.
Organization Mission Statement
I was asked to craft Echoing Green’s first-ever formal mission statement. Following a months-long discovery process by an outside consultant, a fellow communications director and I were tasked with distilling their recommendations into our brand voice.
